Mood Board
The visual design was developed around a blue and orange color palette that aligns with the University of Illinois brand identity, creating a cohesive and recognizable visual experience.
Visual Interest
To enhance the overall aesthetic without overwhelming the content, subtle grain and noise textures were incorporated into the background and graphic elements. These details add depth and visual interest while remaining unobtrusive to the viewer.
Motion & Readability
Motion design was heavily inspired by Vox Media’s animation style, particularly its use of stepped frame animation. This approach creates deliberate, easy-to-follow movement that helps guide the audience’s attention as information is introduced on screen. Motion blur was intentionally omitted to ensure that text and graphical elements remain crisp, legible, and accessible throughout the animation.
Clear Communication
Throughout the process, readability and clarity were prioritized, balancing engaging motion with effective visual communication. The result is a dynamic yet approachable animation style that supports the content while maintaining consistency with the university’s branding standards.
